As heartbreaking as it is, there are the times of the day or week when we are forced to keep our furry friends alone at home while we run errands, go to work or even short trips. Dog sitters are quite common but if it is just for a short period of time then we usually are forced to keep them alone for a few hours.
Dogs handle separation differently, while some are able to cope and occupy themselves with sleeping there are the others who face serious separation anxiety. They feel lonely and sometimes even howl to show it. So as much as we would love to be with your pets all the time there will be a time when they will have to be left alone. So how do you prepare them for a few hours of being on their own? Here are some tips that could be helpful.

Two is company
One of the best ways to reduce the loneliness of your pet is to get them some company. This is by getting another dog so they have someone with them. This might not be the best option for you is vital if you are constantly leaving home.
Dogs prefer being with someone, this reduces their separation anxiety and ensures they are happy as they have someone with them. They are able to keep each other company so you can leave home knowing both your pooches are taking care of each other.
Come up with a plan
It is unhealthy to constantly keep your dogs locked up, especially if you live in a small space. Dogs regardless of the size need exercise. They should be able to run and exercise their muscles. So if you live in a small space ensure you hire a dogwalker so they are able to take your dog for a walk. Make sure this is done at least twice a day. So even if you working a busy schedule make sure you keep time to attend to your dog’s needs.
Keep snacks
Keeping your dog fed is another crucial key to ensuring your pet is healthy. However sometimes time is against us. In this case, a dog treat pouch is an ideal substitute for those busy work days. It is an easy and tasty treat made with a combination of meat and vegetables. It is easy to store, serve and your dogs are going to love it. Along with food it is a must to keep a clean bowl of water for your pooch at all times.

Play music
Dogs feel less lonely than they hear noise. Keeping the radio turned on as been known to calm down dogs especially who feel anxious. Choose calm music to be played whenever you are not at home. They relax your dog and keeps them happy until you are back. If this is not possible at all times try doing this at least a few times a week.
