Chiropractic, is there any proof of it's therapeutic values?
There is a huge amount of anecdotal (or undependable) evidence that chiropractic treatment is effective in the treatment of animals. In scientific circles the effectiveness of any treatment or intervention is not accepted unless it can be verified with a scientific trial.
Recently in the Netherlands at Utrecht University a trial was carried out on 10 warmblood horses to determine if chiropractic treatment had any effect on their movement.
The conclusion reached was that the manipulations resulted in a less extended thoracic backline, a reduction in inclination of the pelvis and an improvement of the symmetry of the pelvic motion patterns. Check the website soon for more information on another scientific trial carried out in the US with a reduction in lumbar pain in horses.
